Last week I mentioned how transcripts are available on File & Serve in the Rohm & Haas Co v. Dow Chemical case... well, they are also available in many other cases in the Delaware Court of Chancery and the Delaware Superior Court (there are even some available in File & Serve's Georgia Courts and the Baltimore City Circuit Court Asbestos cases). Today I thought I would share with you how to easily find these Transcripts and set up an Alert for them as Theresa Bentz blogged about last week.
The Transcripts are stored directly in the Case History and can easily be found by pulling up the Case. To run a search for all transcripts in a court, log into File & Serve, click the "Search" tab, then click the "Advanced Search" tab below that. Select your "jurisdiction," such as "Delaware," then select a "court," such as "DE Court of Chancery Civil Action," and a "case class." Then in the "Document Type(s)" section, highlight the document type "Official Transcript (Addl Fees Apply)." (Note: the "Addl Fees Apply" language is to remind you that if you do decide to purchase a transcript there are higher fees, because the court reporters charge a certain rate per page for the creation of the transcripts). Now click "Search" and you will see all of the transcripts available in the court you have selected (over 1,800 in the Court of Chancery). You can also further narrow your search to your cases, or a certain case name or number by filling in that information.
To set up an Alert for transcripts go to the "Alerts" tab, click "Create New Alert," and give your alert a name such as "New Transcripts." You can fill in the other information if you choose or skip to the "Case Information" section and select either a court or a specific case or case group. For example, click the dropdown for "Court" and select "DE Court of Chancery Civil Action." Then in the "Document Type" section highlight the document type "Official Transcript (Addl Fees Apply)" and click "Add Selections." Now you can click "Save" and you will receive an Alert every time a new Transcript is filed in the court or case(s) you have selected.
